Etisalat new board has confirmed the techco new name has 9mobile. The news of the change of name came up less than a week after the former major shareholder of the company, Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited (EMTS) ordered the non use of it’s trade name Etisalat.
The CEO of the new board Boye Olusanya, states reasons for the choice of name as 9mobile. He said that the intention is to keep the 0809ja heritage and the evolution over 9 years of operation in Nigeria.
According to TheCable, Mr. Boye encourages all Etisalat subscribers and partners to be patient as the company is in transition to change the name Etisalat to 9Mobile. It states:

The new therefore will need to change what appears on your mobile device from Etisalat to 9Mobile, the website name and social media account and other platforms that bears Etisalat to 9Mobile.
