AMAZON GOES TO COURT OVER COUNTERFEIT SELLERS

The e-commerce giant Amazon has gone to court over sellers who counterfeit the original seller product. There are two cases filed by Amazon. The first is about sellers involve in selling of training equipment that was produced by originally by Fitness Anywhere and the second case is on counterfeiting a patented technology by Forklift.

In the law suit, the company was reported to say that when customers purchase counterfeit goods, it undermines the trust that customers, sellers and manufacturers place in Amazon, thereby tarnishing Amazon’s brand and causing irreparable reputational harm.”

Fake product is a major issue with Amazon. According to Investopedia, many sellers in Amazon has claimed that the company allows counterfeit product on their platform. Many sellers in their platform, not excluding Apple, has their product counterfeited in Amazon online platform.

Amazon is thereby taking appropriate steps to reduce imitation in their website. Furthermore, Amazon can reduce this problem to the minimum by introducing a feature in their website that allow any person to report a seller that sells fake product.
