Ericsson Group to Invest on IoT in Nigeria, NCC


Ericsson Group, one popular tech giant has expressed interest to invest in Nigeria Technology market. The group visited NCC on during the week to indicate this interest.

Those present in the meeting on the side of Ericsson team are Shitlesi Makkhofane, Ericsson head Government and Industry Relations and Peter Olusoji who represent Ericsson Nigeria. For the Commission, Mr. Sunday Dare the Executive Commissioner

Shitlesi Makkhofane, Head Government and Industry Relations of Ericsson Group; and  Peter Olusoji of Ericsson Nigeria, was received on behalf of the Management of NCC by Mr. Sunday Dare the Executive Commissioner Stakeholder Management of NCC.

Mr Dare appreciated  the visit by the Ericsson team and promises to relate the information to the Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Umar Shittu Danbatta. 

Early, the Ericsson team has told NCC of its interest in investing on low price broadband services in Nigeria. It also stated its interest in the Internet of Things, IoT, 5G network, huge data management and cyber security solutions.

The team decry Forex issues, and how it will affect the movement of telecom infrastructures to Nigeria. Ericsson Group is not the first company to expressed interest in Broadband products in Nigeria. 

There are other Tech companies in Nigeria that are already engaged in this service aside the four main telecommunication companies in the country. Huawei, Mainone, Spectrum are also provided this services. 

However, there broadband service are very expensive. Ericsson team promises to provides low price broadband products in Nigeria. The team also promises to use latest tech innovation to provide affordable broadband and make them available and accessable to the underserved areas in Nigeria.
