Hackers are not only on the internet using emails to steal your information through suspicious links, they also use text messaging. This is called Phishing.
In Nigeria, many hackers will send you an SMS telling you to update your ATM or bank information. Doing so, you risk losing your private information to them which they can use to carryout online transactions with your money.
To reduce this, the Nigeria Computer Emergency Respond Team, ngCERT, has launched a website yesterday, which you can report SMS Phishing. The website name is Antiphishing.ng. So, to help curb this menace, endeavour to report SMS Phishing when it occurs.
