Google has announced on its developer blog that it has opening a standalone office in Lagos state. The standalone office will be a source for research and support to startup ecosystem in Nigeria.
Josh Yelin, Global Lead, Launchpad Accelerator, mentioned this in the media report. He clearly said that Google Launchpad Accelerator his worked with Flutterwave in Nigeria, a market leader in fintech sector of the tech ecosystem.
Currently Google is holding the Launchpad Accelerator program in Nigeria and twelve startups have been selected for the event. Six of these startups are Nigeria startup businesses. This startups will have the privilege of seed funds and mentorship.
Nigeria is not the only country to have a standalone office, Israel, Egypt and Brazil are having theirs. Launchpad Accelerator in San Francisco will be use to support global startups.
Bringing Launchpad Accelerator office to Lagos state only amplify the fact Lagos remains the tech hub in Nigeria. This is in opposition to what
Sim Shagaya said that regarding this. He believes that other states has innovation better than Lagos.
