IFC collaborates to fund Africa Talking with 8.6 Million Dollar Series A Investment

IFC venture capital had collaborate with Orange Digital venture to provide a “series A” funding to Africa’s Talking. The fund will help Africa’s Talking to employ and build its capacity in the headquarter at Kenya and also be used to established itself in many other countries in Africa.

Africa’s Talking, is a software base company located in Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. The funding will enable Africa’s Talking to expand to Francophone Africa countries. And have a cloud space with Rackspace London. This is especially as Orange Digital venture is known to fund technology companies in Francophone Africa.

Africa’s Talking works with software developers to create business solution API across SMS, Airtime services, payments and voice. The company is managed by Samuel Gikandi, who is the CEO of the Africa’s Talking.

Before receiving the recent funding, Africa’s Talking was established in Kenya in 2010 and was able to start making profit in 2012. The company has a community of over 20,000 software developers and 1000 clients which includes Ecobank.

According to Techcrunch were the information was taking from, Africa’s Talking invests in research and development in IOT, cloud, analytics and payments.
