MTN to List its Shares in Nigeria Stock Exchange this December


As a result of the meeting of the General Manager of MTN, Mr. Nikiwe Tsaagane and the Nigeria Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, on Friday in Abuja, it was unveiled that MTN Nigeria will begin subscription of its shares in the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE this December 2017.

According to a source, Mr. Tsaagane makes it known that the telecommunication tycoon has over 62 million subscribers in Nigeria. He also said that, MTN is partnering with Nigeria Communication Commission, NCC and NSE to begin digital application platform for shareholders to apply for the buying of shares online, thereby reducing paper works.

On his part, Mr Onu said that the ministry will support the efforts of MTN to realised the digital registration platform.

Despite the Xenophobia attack on Nigerians in South Africa this year, MTN still hold a reasonable influence on stakeholders in the Nigeria telecommunication industry. The third tier tech company provides broadband and GSM services in Nigeria.

It has also supported many individuals to create apps such as Dobox app, a Nigeria Movies applications where Nigerias can subscribe to Nollywood movies.
