An event organised by The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) through the Office for ICT Innovation & Entrepreneurship (OIIE), a subsidiary of NITDA, saw the sponsorship of three tech startups in Lagos, Nigeria. The event was held on Saturday 19th of August, 2017 at the Admiralty Conference Center, Naval Dockyard Complex, Lagos. The event name is #StartupsNigeria.
At the event, shortlisted Startups have the opportunity to showcase their innovations to the judges and audience, at the end, three startups won the awards. Beat Drone, won the first prize. The 2nd prize was won by Nicademia, an online distribution platform for African Inspired Cartoons and the 3rd position went to Accounteer, an online accounting made for entrepreneurs.
This startups where giving seeds funds to help grow their businesses. The director General of NITDA, Isa Ali Ibrahim, PhD said in his closing remarks that the NCC will continue to support and promote Nigeria Startups. He also said that the main aim of organising #StartupNigeria event is to identify talents we could nurture & better their solutions.
Also, one of the judges, Mrs Yetunde Johnson, who is also a Board of Director member of Nigeria Internet Registration Association, NiRA commended the startups and charged them to innovate products that provide solutions to people’s challenges and as well work business solutions.
