ONE WORD FOR ALL NYSC DISCHARGE CORP MEMBERS

After completing National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) in Nigeria, you may be among the fortunate few who will get paid job immediately. Later on another set of few persons from your batch will also get jobs. However, many persons will not get paid employment after NYSC. This is not a cause. It is what all of us see everyday. Now your last Federal government allowances are quickly running out. So what will provide you a new income stream?

It pains me to see graduates after successful completion of their service (NYSC) year stay at home still feeding on their parent’s pulse, while they can start start their on business.

Furthermore, you do not need millions of Naira to start a business that will provide you some income as some well meaning persons will tell you. Also, you need patient and endurance for your business to grow. With a few thousands you can start a small business, nurture it till it grows up and be proud of it in a few years.

What should I likened a business? A business is like a zygote in mother’s embryo. At that early stage and within the next nine months a lot of care must be undertaken by the parent to ensure save delivery of the child. Within the next few years, after the child is born, you will see the child doing well in all is endeavors. What will be in your heart. I am very sure you will be proud of that child. You will also remember when you are in pains to give birth to the child and how successfully the child is right now.

That is exactly how a business becomes. A successful and big business do not get to it present size in a minute. You need to continue. You may also feel like given up someday. But never give up continue trying hard and you will be surprise the way you will succeed.

Countries in this earth that are called developed countries are not because of the big businesses they have but because of their small businesses. As reported by World Bank in 2015, “600 million jobs are needed in the next 15 years to absorb a growing global workforce.” “Most formal jobs in emerging markets are with small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which also create 4 out of 5 new positions.”

From the report you can see how important small businesses are to the growth not only to Nigeria but to the world. The world needs small businesses and as a graduate you can be among those who take the world’s economy to the next level.
