Civic Innovation Lab, one of Nigeria famous labs were potential techprenuers can rent office space to grow their ideas into successful business ventures was opportune to have the visit of the vice president of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osibanjo.
The visit was named Mentorship series 1.0. As at when the president arrived staffs of Lab welcome him and shows him around the hub. Social inventors who used Civic Innovation Lab has their working space were privilege to talk to the Professor Osibanjo who also gave them advice. He also engaged in conversations about cryptocurrency, bitcoin and transparency through untraceable virtual currency.
During the Vice President speech, he stated clearly the following,
Integrity pays. It is the only thing that works
It is important that we have avenues like these for government officials to interact with social innovators with socially relevant solutions to some of our toughest problems
No society can thrive on greed and corruption. It can’t be the rule, therefore it must be the exception
My careers are complements of experiences that have shaped who I have become, and there is still a long way to go
The most important lesson that I have learned in my role as the Vice President is the gap between a stated objective and actually getting things done.
Civic Innovation Lab appreciated the visit, on twitter they said they were inspired, challenged and motivated to keep up the good work.
With regards to the statement that no society strives with greed, Iyinoluwa Aboyoje, founder of Futterwave, mentioned earlier today that in an interview he had with the vice president of Nigeria, the president mentioned that no community or people can survive on greed of its members.
