The Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON, today sealed up the premises of Samsung West Africa which is located in Victoria Island of Lagos state Nigeria. The reason for closure, according to SON, was as a result of failure on the part of the distributor to register some of the products as well as partly registration of certain Samsung product imported to Nigeria.
Engr. Enebi Onucheyo, Head of Product Registration at SON while briefing Newsmen stated that the sealing of the premises was in conformity with SON Act 14, of 2015. He also said that it is important of imported product to be registered so as for traceability and confirmation of quality status. He promises that the premises will be reopened immediately distributors comply with the necessary procedures.
Though, representative of the firm claimed ignorance and that it is the distributors of Samsung product should be responsible for registration of the products, Engr. Enebi stated that the company is the sole representative of Samsung in Nigeria.
