Two Days Battery: The Redmi Note 5 the bad ass

Welcome to India. The Redmi Note 5 was stated at 9,999 rupee. There is also the Redmi 5. The Note 5 version of it is a bad ass while providing a two day battery life. This is made possible due to the UI, the MIUI 9. Combined with a Qualcomm Snapdragon then the bad ass is complete.

The battery capacity of the Redmi Note 5 is 4000 mAh. But that’s not the reason why its can last for straight two days. Its because of its powered by MIUI 9 is efficiently utilized apps on the Note 5 for optimum usage.


Heavy usage, such as browsing on 4G LTE, increasing the volume while playing games or watching a movie may have profound effect on the battery’s life span. That is for the battery. The battery will last for 9 hours on gaming, 15 hours of watching videos, 165 hours on playing music and 17 days on standby. The Redmi Note 5 is note only about battery. Its also has other features and specifications that makes it the bad ass.

Let’s start from the design. The Redmi Note 5 is crafted with aluminium back and a 2.5D corning Gorilla Glass. This isn’t new as most smartphone also comes with this features. The 2.5D Glass is measured 5.99″ in diameter. The screen is powered by 2160 x 1080 resolution with Full HD+ display. More on the screen design is the full display. This is enabled by its tiny bezels. GSMArena reported that the screen only takes approximately 77.4 percent of the front view. Aside from the fact that the Redmi Note 5 wiegh 181 gram, its also comes in varieties of colours – Black, Champagne Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue.

Let’s have a look at the Redmi Note 5 cameras. The front camera is 20 MP. This is similar to another smartphone that just introduce Qualcomm processor. The 20 MP camera is powerful for selfies and wefies. A two rear camera is not bad for a phone that worth 56,000 naira and may not be more than 70,000 naira when shipped to Nigeria.

A 12 MP + 5 MP camera sensors for the rear view can give you good photo in low light and you can switch to various mode via Paronama mode, Face detection mode or Burst mode. The Redmi Note 5 support Proximity sensor, Gyroscope sensor, Accelerometer, Vibration motor, Ambient light sensor and Hall effect sensors.

Now let’s face the performance. The Phablet is packed with an Android 7.2.1 Nougat, MIUI 9 and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636. A single octa core processor with 1.8 GHz speed and a Graphic Processor of Adreno 506. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 and Xiaomi MIUI user interface, UI, ensures apps optimization, thereby saving up battery life. The MIUI is compatible with Android Nougat and future Android Operating System, enabling users of Redmi Note 5 has better user experience.

With a powerful GPU and Octa core CPU running on 1.8 GHz speed match with a 4GB/6GB RAM lagging time will reduced compared with phones with smaller RAM. But you should remembered that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 was launched and made available to the India market on February 2018.

Observing the Redmi Note 5 from all sides. The fingerprint scanner is placed right below the dual LES flashlight. From the front view, the camera is at the top along with the low light LED flash, proximity sensor and micro speaker. There is no visible button in the front view. The power and volume buttons are at the right corner of the phone. The Earpiece port is at the top of it while the USB Type C port, loudspeaker and Microphone are at the bottom of the Redmi Note 5.
